Mission accomplished for Silvia Persico who, after the good prologue finished in third place, takes the second place in the first stage of the Ceratizit Festival Elsy Jacobs. A good result that let her to wear the leader’s jersey of the Luxembourg stage race.
The race was decided in a sprint between three athletes, with the 24-year-old from Bergamo preceded by Marta Bastianelli but able to precede one of the favorites for the final success: Demi Vollering.
The dutchman will be the most dangerous rival for the final success; but Silvia Persico will have on her side a team that today has showed its strenght. Eleonora Gasparrini, in fact, crossed the finish line in sixth position, 11″ behind her captain. The Canadian Olivia Baril also did a good performance, ending in eleventh place.
As expected, the last stage in Garnich will be pivotal. Last year Silvia Persico took a good 4th place on the same path.
