PHILLIP ISLAND BETWEEN BAD LUCK AND REVELATIONS

Start to the challenge to the world championship 2017 and like every year the Australian circuit of Phillip Island reserve fought races with the leading group enclosed in a few tenths of a second and so many possible winners. Gino Rea that up to warm up has impressed with his pace and started with very high ambitions was unfortunately involved in the fall of Mulhauser, fortunately avoiding the worst, but dreams of glory vanished. Fantastic the flying Japanese, Kazuki Watanabe, who started from 19th position on the grid was the author of a great comeback, that entertained COMI’S guest with the 8th position at the debut in World Supersport makes us happy. Roman Ramos fought like a gladiator in a category that has reached a very high level, perhaps among the all-time highs, the presence in official form of Kawasaki, Ducati, Yamaha, MV Agusta, BMW, Aprilia, Honda means to have as many as 14 factory bike on starting gridRoman has taken two good placings proving once again to be among the best private teams, and leave the factory bikes at his shoulders with riders that comes from MotoGP indicates the goodness of the work done.
Roman Ramos 40 (WSBK race 1; 13th):”The weekend is not been very good. I think we can be more forward and stronger. In the first few laps the bike of Brooks was leaking liquid and I had to pass it, I have not trusted to push hard, so I lost contact with the front group.I fought as much with De Angelis and in the end we won on him.”

Roman Ramos 40 (WSBK race 1; 14th):”I was behind the group to safeguard the tires until four laps to go then I attacked surpassing De Angelis, Brooks and Reiterberger, but then they overtake me on the straight at photo finish. The team has worked very hard to make a competitive bike and I think we can be competitive in the top 10.”
Gino Rea 4 (WSS race; rt):“I’m really gutted for Team Go Eleven. We have all worked extremely hard during the practices to develop the bike and this showed by our constant progress. After finishing 5th in the warm up on a used tyre I was confident on challenging for podium positions. Unfortunately I got a really bad start and then Mulhallser highsided in front of me and I collided with his bike and took a big tumble. I’m lucky my outcome wasn’t worse but I’m frustrated I put myself in that position with my bad start.
We’ll be working hard again in Thailand to make up for this weekend.”

Gino Rea - Phillip Island
Kazuki Watanabe (WSS race : 8th): “It was a very emotional debut and also very hard, during testing I could not be fast and I had to work a lot on the set up of my bike. I was losing a lot in the last sector but in the warm-up I found the right way and the race was very nice, I overtaken many riders and this is fun. The result is better than expected. Thanks to all the team that worked hard and very well to help me, together we can become very strong.”

Kazuki Watanabe - Phillip Island
Denis Sacchetti (Team Manager): “The first round of the World championship did not disappoint the expectations, and is always very nice Racing here. We are very sorry for Gino Rea, had worked hard on the race pace, we were fast also with finished tires and certainly a place on the podium would have been for him, to miss this opportunity for a mistake not yours, leaves always a great regret. Kazuki Watanabe was the revelation of today, from 19th to 8th in just 10 laps. He is a very clever driver and can do a good season. Roman is a confirmation for us, even if at our bike missing a little power to aspire to beat the factory teams.”
