First victory of the season in Belgium for Chiara Consonni from Bergamo who makes her the Ronde de Mouscron with a peremptory sprint at the end of a very tight race in which all the girls of Valcar – Travel & Service gave their contribution to achieve success.

“Yesterday I raced the Tour of Flanders and I didn’t know what my feelings could be” says Chiara in her second career victory among the professionals “during the first 50 km I felt my legs a bit heavy, then I recovered in the final . All my teammates were exceptional: Martina Alzini, Silvia Magri, Silvia Pollicini, Elena Pirrone, Ilaria Sanguineti, Margaux Vigié all worked very well and I have to thank them. In the final I felt good, the sprint was difficult, but in the end I won and I’m super happy. This victory motivates me a lot and it is the second success for my team after that of Elisa Balsamo at the beginning of the season. I dedicate this victory to my family, to my whole team – teammates, coach, staff, president – and all our sponsors who invest in our team ”.

The competition conditions were very special. At the beginning there were even a few snowflakes accompanying the first km of a race characterized by a 12.5 km circuit to be repeated 10 times. The pace was very sustained with a numerous series of shots on the head of the group. The most important action of the race was 23 km from the finish, when the German Kroger and the Spanish Teruel Ribes took off from the group. Thanks to the work of Silvia Pollicini, Silvia Magri and Martina Alzini the attack was canceled. At 7 km a thrill: on the left side of the road a fall brakes three Valcar – Travel & Service athletes (among them also Chiara Consonni) who had to work hard to regain the top race positions. In this situation, the work of Silvia Pollicini and Ilaria Sanguineti was precious, who, 3 km from the finish, brought Chiara back to the best positions to compete in the sprint.

At the last km, the Movistar takes command of the operations and launches the sprint and, with disarming ease, Chiara exploits the work of her opponents, detaches them all and almost stops pedaling, winning and indicating the name of her team with her finger.

This victory is a great satisfaction for the team after Elisa Balsamo‘s excellent 15th place in the Tour of Flanders on Easter Sunday.
In addition, this success is also valid for the lead in the ranking of the Lotto Cup circuit of which the Ronde de Mouscron was the first test. To complete the party for the girls directed by Davide Arzeni also arrives the shirt of best climber for Silvia Magri.
